From the creators of The Book of Regrets, Synodic Arc teams up with Abyssmal Games to create an underwater survival horror game. Set in the depths of the Bermuda Triangle, you are sent by D.I.V.E.S (Divers Investigating Various External Signals), a government-funded organization, to investigate a mysterious underwater signal. Are you ready to traverse the treacherous abyss and make it back alive?
Abysmal Games started work on Abyss of Neptune with a two word concept: “underwater horror”. Through a strategic partnership with Synodic Arc, Abyss of Neptune evolved into the game it is today. The level designers and artists of Abyssmal Games meshed perfectly with the programming and audio team from Synodic Arc.
The feeling of being chased by a disgusting, decrepit monster was both an artistic and programming challenge. First, the artist had to brainstorm something that brought an aquatic threat to life. Then, the programming team had to write Artificial Intelligence code to make it chase the player. What really brought the game together was the talented voice acting by Tasch Ritter. Her commitment to Nakai came through in every line. What fans might not realize is that her AI companion, D-NA, was actually fully fabricated artificially! There was no human actor!
